Not Enough

I'm told that I'm smart.
Intelligence not enough.

I'm told I have talent.
Talent isn't enough.

I'm told I have creativity.
Creativity is not enough.

I'm told to follow my dreams.
Dreaming is not enough.

No one told me about the black mass of squirming doubt. No one told me that I would have to build my own scaffolding. No one told me I would be alone in the crowd. No one told me I would be fighting myself along with the world at large.

The pattern is clear.
Pattern recognition is not enough.

The feeling is tangible. 
Feeling is not enough.

The words are there.
Words are not enough.

The darkness closes in.
