Cornering

In my mind, there's a thread tugging at life.
Once living, loving without fear of loss.
So unkind in my head, struggling in strife.
Too forgiving, moving on out, torn and tossed.

So, we sacrifice now, our blood and pain
Giving too much to settle the ledger
Clearly tossing dice, a flood against rain.
A test, as such, for mettle and pleasure.

Holding the keys and locks tightly within
Our souls shrouded in darkness, sequestered.
Watching molded teeth in clocks lightly spin
And sold, lauded by Barkers to pester.

Time was we could trust without a scorner
Right now, we are just stuck in a corner.
