In Memory of Freddy
I hear a tune, bright and shining like joy.
A penny whistle cheerfully playing
The melody out in the open sky
Cannot be defeated by an Old Boy.
It sings of escapades and adventure,
Of times in distant past, glinting alloy
Reflecting the sunshine in perfection.
Serene notes sound off just as a choir boy
As the echoes of music allaying
Deep and dark shadows that sometimes apply
Melancholy to a body’s employ.
